Our commitment

Guardian EMT is committed to making our website and our training accessible to people with disabilities. We treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a box that gets checked once.

The standard we work toward

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

We currently claim partial conformance. That means we have applied much of the standard but the site has not been through a full independent audit, and we know some content does not yet meet it. We would rather tell you that than claim a level we have not verified.

What we have done

• Text and background colors chosen against the standard's contrast ratios.
• Headings structured in order so screen readers can navigate by section.
• Descriptive alt text on meaningful images.
• Keyboard access to navigation and forms.
• Layouts that reflow on phones and tablets and support browser zoom.
• Descriptive link text rather than "click here."

Known limitations

Being straight about the gaps is more useful than a clean-looking claim.

• Third-party scheduling. Class booking is provided by an outside system. We do not control its markup, and parts of it may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. If any part of booking a class is inaccessible to you, call us and we will enroll you over the phone.
• Documents. Some downloadable files may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We will provide an accessible version of any document on request.
• Older content. Pages built earlier in the site's life may not meet the same standard as recent ones. We correct these as we find them.

Accessibility in our courses

Accessibility is not only a website matter. If you need an accommodation to participate in a Guardian EMT course — a classroom adjustment, an alternate format for materials, extended time on written assessments — contact us before your class starts so we have time to arrange it properly.

Some EMS skills carry physical requirements set by certifying bodies rather than by us, and those we cannot waive. What we can do is tell you exactly what they are, early, so you can decide with full information. Ask us and we will walk you through them.

Tell us about a problem

If you hit something on this site you cannot use, we want to hear about it. It is the fastest way we find out something is broken.

It helps to include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. You do not need any of that to get help, though. "I can't book a class" is enough.

We aim to respond within three business days, and we will tell you what we are doing about it and when.

Anything you can do on this website, you can do by phone or in person. Class information, enrollment, payment, and questions about prerequisites are all available at (801) 332-0012 during business hours, or at our Provo campus.

Ongoing work

We review accessibility as part of building and updating pages, and we address issues reported to us. This statement will be updated as the site changes and as gaps get closed.
