CPAT Prep
The Candidate Physical Ability Test is a pass-or-go-home gate on nearly every fire application in Utah. It is a timed course in a weighted vest, and it rewards a specific kind of conditioning that general gym work does not build by accident.
- Stair climb under load — the event that fails most candidates
- Hose drag and equipment carry
- Ladder raise and extension
- Forcible entry and forced-space search
- Victim drag and ceiling breach-and-pull
- Grip, trunk, and shoulder endurance under a vest
