You already know patient assessment, BLS, and the EMT-B scope. Guardian's 160+ hour AEMT course Provo students rely on builds on that foundation with the advanced procedures, deeper pathophysiology, and pharmacology that define the AEMT scope of practice, following the National EMS Scope of Practice Model and Utah state protocols.
Seven items required before your first day of class. The two that matter most: a current NREMT EMT-B certification and a Utah state EMT licence. AEMT Utah County programs all share these as the entry gate. Advanced EMT is the next step after Basic, not a replacement for it. If you're not yet certified, start with our EMT Basic program.
You can enrol before you have everything. Reserve your seat now and finish the paperwork before day one. The one thing that cannot wait is your Utah licence: state rules mean we cannot let you start the course without it.
You must be 18 to enroll in Guardian's Advanced EMT program. Utah state AEMT licensing also requires 18+.
A copy of your high school diploma or GED certificate is required before your first day.
Required. You must hold a current National Registry EMT-B certification at the start of class. Bring a copy of your certification card or NREMT record. This is the entry gate to AEMT training, not a recommendation.
Required before day one, and this one is not ours to waive. Utah requires you to be licensed in the state before you can begin an Advanced EMT course. National Registry certification and a Utah licence are two separate things, and holding the first does not give you the second.
You can enroll and hold your seat while your licence is processing. You cannot attend the first session without it. Apply early, because processing time is outside our control and outside yours.
Required at the start of class. You'll also complete an AHA-curriculum ACLS course as part of the Soaring Eagle and Mother Eagle packages, built into the program, not an add-on.
A copy of your Hepatitis B vaccination record is required. Most working EMTs already have this on file from EMT Basic, bring the same copy.
Must be within the past 6 months. If yours is older, even by a few weeks, you'll need a new test before class begins.
AEMT is the next certification level above EMT-B. The scope of practice expands to include advanced airway techniques (supraglottic devices, advanced ventilation), IV therapy (initiating and maintaining IV lines, fluid resuscitation), a wider range of medications administered via IV, IM, sub-Q and intradermal routes, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. AEMTs and paramedics share much of the foundational clinical knowledge — the AEMT cert is often the bridge between EMT-B and paramedic school.
You don't need to be currently employed as an EMT, but you must hold a current NREMT EMT-B certification at the start of class. Many of our AEMT students are already working in EMS, fire, or hospital settings and are pursuing AEMT to expand their scope and pay grade. If you're not yet NREMT-certified, start with our EMT Basic course first.
Three packages: Eagle at $1,495 (tuition only), Soaring Eagle at $1,795 (tuition + textbook, AEMT polo, ID badge, an AHA-curriculum ACLS & PALS courses, and The Forge — CPAT prep or strength & conditioning track), and Mother Eagle at $2,195 (everything in Soaring Eagle + EMS boots and pants, online testing platform, and career advancement support). No hidden fees. Utah state licensing and NREMT exam fees are paid separately. Payment plans and a $250 deposit available.
12 weeks. 160+ hours of didactic instruction, advanced skills training, and clinical ride-along time at local hospitals and EMS agencies. That's significantly more hours than the EMT Basic program (160+). AEMT training Utah programs run longer because the AEMT scope demands deeper preparation.
Yes. Day classes (AM) meet Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings. Evening classes (PM) meet Tuesday/Thursday evenings plus Saturday skills sessions, built specifically for EMTs working full-time shifts who want to advance without leaving their jobs.

Yes, in the Soaring Eagle and Mother Eagle packages. Guardian runs AHA-curriculum ACLS & PALS courses taught by AHA-certified instructors as part of those packages, meaningful at the AEMT level, especially for cardiac rhythm interpretation and pediatric resuscitation scenarios. The Eagle Package does not include the ACLS & PALS courses; you can add them separately if needed.
