Guardian's 12-week EMT Basic program in Provo runs 160+ hours of hands-on training in a real working ambulance, daily 911 simulations, and clinical rotations with Utah County fire departments and hospital ERs.

The Guardian EMT Basic curriculum is the path to EMT certification Utah employers recognize and the credential you need to become an EMT Utah County and Wasatch Front agencies hire. At completion of Guardian's 160+ hours of didactic, skills, and clinical training, students will be able to:
Five items required before your first day of class. Guardian runs an AHA-curriculum BLS course on Day 1 taught by AHA-certified instructors. So, if you don't have a current BLS card yet, the Soaring Eagle and Mother Eagle packages include that Day 1 BLS course.
You must be 18 to enroll in Guardian's EMT Basic program. Utah state EMT licensing also requires 18+.
A copy of your high school diploma or GED certificate is required before your first day.
Required at the start of class. Guardian runs an AHA-curriculum BLS course on Day 1 taught by AHA-certified instructors. So, if you don't have a current card yet, the Soaring Eagle and Mother Eagle packages include that Day 1 BLS course.
A copy of your Hepatitis B vaccination record is required. Contact your primary care provider if you need a copy.
Must be within the past 6 months. If yours is older, you'll need a new test before class begins.
12 weeks. Most Utah competitors run 4–6 week accelerated programs; Guardian's longer schedule is intentional, clinical confidence isn't built by compression. The program includes 160+ hours of hands-on training, classroom instruction, and clinical rotations.
No prior medical experience is required. The course assumes zero medical background and teaches everything from vital signs to patient assessment. Most students enter Guardian's EMT Basic with no clinical experience.
Three packages: Eagle at $1,195 (tuition only), Soaring Eagle at $1,495 (tuition + textbook, polo, ID, EMT gear bundle, a Day 1 AHA-curriculum BLS course, and The Forge — CPAT prep or strength & conditioning track), and Mother Eagle at $1,795 (everything in Soaring Eagle + EMS boots and pants, online testing platform, career advancement support, and fingerprinting). No hidden fees. Utah state licensing and NREMT exam fees are paid separately. Payment plans and $250 deposit available.
Yes. Guardian runs both day and evening classes of the EMT Basic class Provo students need to launch a career in EMS. Day classes meet Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings. Evening classes meet Tuesday/Thursday evenings plus Saturday skills sessions, built for working students.
New classes start approximately every 6–8 weeks at the Provo campus. Current start dates are listed on the enrollment section above and come straight from our booking system, so they are always up to date. Call (801) 332-0012 to confirm seat availability.
Guardian EMT graduates consistently sit well above the national NREMT pass rate average. The Executive Director, Maria Barcena, is a contributor to the NREMT exam question bank; meaning the questions Guardian's students prepare for are written by their own instructor.
EMT Basic students complete ride-along rotations with local Utah County fire departments and ER shift rotations at hospital partners. This is real EMS exposure, not classroom simulation. Specific rotation assignments are coordinated by Guardian based on class schedule and partner availability.
Guardian EMT is located at 2066 S 950 E, Suite B, Provo, UT 84606. Free parking on-site, direct access from I-15. Students commute from Provo, Orem, Lehi, American Fork, Spanish Fork, Springville, and throughout Utah County and the Wasatch Front.
